Take Back Idaho Applauds Idaho Voters for Rejecting McGeachin, Giddings, Moon, Durst

GOP Primary a referendum on Idaho Freedom Foundation factions

BLACKFOOT, Idaho (May 17, 2022) – In the wake of last night’s Republican primary election, the Take Back Idaho board is pleased to recognize the efforts of Idaho voters who turned out to reject extremist candidates at the ballot box.

The more that Idaho voters learned about divisive fringe candidates like Janice McGeachin, Priscilla Giddings, Dorothy Moon, and Branden Durst, the more likely they were to reject them at the ballot box in favor of common sense and common ground. Ammon Bundy associate and militia founder Eric Parker was beaten soundly by a principled, common-sense Republican. And—even in the epicenter of the most extreme regions of our state— Bundy Gang militants like Todd Engel still lost.

Take Back Idaho made an endorsement in 44 constitutional and legislative races: 30 of those candidates were winners last night, and one is too close to call. Particularly in races spanning Eastern, Central, and Southwest Idaho, voters rejected extremists like Chad Christensen, Karey Hanks, Ron Nate, and Greg Ferch.

When the Idaho legislature convenes this fall, half of the Idaho Freedom Foundation’s worst dozen cronies will not be returning. That’s a victory for the everyday people of Idaho, and a rebuke of bully lobbyists and their cronies.

Take Back Idaho has always asserted that, when Idahoans are given a chance to reject the most corrosive and divisive voices in the room, they will do so. Take Back Idaho will continue to do the necessary work of offering voters that chance, and we remain committed to the strenuous defense of the state and people we love.
